Felipe Pallares has been designing interiors for as long as he can remember. Born and raised in Quito, Ecuador, he remembers participating, with great interest, in the remodeling of his family home in South America. He was intrigued and amazed by the design process, and the architecture of his family's continuing home
development projects.
Felipe moved to the United States in 1979 to attend college, he graduated with a
Bachelors Degree in hotel and
restaurant management in Las Vegas. He then moved to San Diego, where he worked in
the hospitality industry for a few years. Then, working at a world renowned
hotel in San Diego, he had the opportunity to help the staff
designers choose the correct fabrics and finishes for the guest rooms, during
a major renovation of the hotel.
This helped him to realize that interior design was his passion, and
architecture and interior design were in his blood. He took courses in
Interior Design, and this helped him to establish his career as a designer.
While going to school for an Interior Design degree, at San Diego Mesa
College, he worked for renowned firms in San Diego, as well as a design
showroom. Graduating with honors, acquiring experience, and learning the
trade, he also joined ASID. First, he was a member of the student chapter,
and later he became an Allied Member of ASID. His career had begun!
Now Felipe manages his own company, Designed Spaces, in La Jolla, California.
He has successfully completed several design projects for both residential,
and commercial clients, including kitchen and bathroom remodels, and home
theaters. Felipe's passion for design is reflected in his work.
He takes control of a project from an initial idea, and carries it to full
completion. His scope of work includes floor plan layouts and elevations,
space planning, lighting, paint colors, selection of fabrics, materials
and finishes, purchasing furniture and accessories, and art.
Felipe has projects in the United States, and has expanded his practice to
Ecuador and Peru, where he is presently designing two summer homes on the
ocean front.
